Nicknamed “The Little Jerusalem”, Pitigliano is a Tuscan village that stands in the territories of the Archaeological Area.

The village of Pitigliano is located just about 25 km from the Terme di Saturnia, located in the most internal territories of the Tuscan Maremma.

The town was built on a tuff rock, from which it dominates all the valleys below and which gives it an aspect of mystery and magic, as if the town were actually suspended in the void, its origins are actually very ancient, as its monuments and buildings can testify.

The territory on which the town of today stands Pitigliano it was inhabited in ancient times by the Etruscans who built their villages here and worked in the construction of necropolises and vie caves, today a great attraction for history and archeology enthusiasts; legend has it that the town was founded by two young Romans, Petilio and Celiano.
