Characteristic village in the Tuscan Maremma, Montemerano is a precious testimony of the medieval era, told by its oldest houses and its historical monuments.

Montemerano is located just a few minutes away from the Terme di Saturnia, just five minutes by car.

From its inhabited center you can enjoy the view of panoramas and naturalistic landscapes of environmental value and value, you can in fact admire the hills of the Maremma, the cultivated countryside, or the woods and valleys, completely immersing yourself in the spirit of southern Tuscany.

The town arose around 1200, under the control of the Aldobrandeschi family, then became a possession of the Baschi family and of the city of Orvieto, before passing under the power of the Republic of Siena, it then belonged to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, with the family Florentine De’ Medici and, in the second half of the 19th century, it became part of the Kingdom of Italy.

The town preserves architectural examples of medieval art already in the most common homes, although there is no shortage of buildings and monuments worthy of mention:

Church of San Giorgio, a building built in the Early Middle Ages and restored and enlarged in the 15th century
Tower of San Lorenzo, once flanked by the church of the same name, which has now become a private residence
Boundary walls
Towers, which once served as lookouts and the fortress
Rocca Aldobrandesca, built during the Middle Ages
Church of the Madonna del Cavalluzzo, just outside the town, immersed in the heart of the Maremma countryside, dates back to the 15th century
