Protected natural reserve, the Maremma Park is located in Maremma, in the province of Grosseto.

This is the first protected reserve that was established in Tuscany, created in 1975, today it presents itself as a place of environmental and naturalistic interest of value and relevance, the area is easily reachable from Saturnia, from which it is a about an hour.

It is a very large park, which covers the coastal strip that gives Principina al Mare connects Talamone, passing through Alberese, one of the best known localities, inside there are forests of pines and holm oaks, but also marshes, fields intended for agriculture, pastures for animals that are raised in the wild, there it also finds the last stretch of the Ombrone river.

The coastal area of the Maremma Natural Park is certainly worth visiting, this stretch of the reserve is in fact divided between rocky and sandy beaches, much appreciated by the numerous tourists who choose this location in southern Tuscany as a destination for their summer holidays.

The vegetation of the park is interesting, in addition to the aforementioned pine forests and holm oak woods, the territory of the reserve is covered with Mediterranean scrub, naturally typical of this part of Italy and sees the presence of centuries-old olive trees.

The fauna is varied Maremma Natural Park, in fact, various animal species find their natural habitat inside it, such as the hawk, the duck, the heron and the flamingo, but also the wild boar, the roe deer, the badger and the fox, and in the pastures the horse and the Maremma cow.

Inside the park you can also admire some ancient buildings, we are talking about the Abbey of San Rabano, dating back to the 12th century and still in an excellent state of preservation today, the various watchtowers that were built during the Middle Ages, such as the Torre della Trappola, Uccellina, Bella Marsilia, Castel Marino and Cala di Forno.
